A compassionate safe space to explore life together

Psychotherapy and Counselling in Wokingham, Berkshire and Online.

Welcome, and thank you for visiting.

About Me

I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor providing a compassionate, safe and non-judgmental space to explore issues, concerns and anxieties.

Throughout life, I have worked in roles with people at the centre and understand the pressures and challenges life can put in front of us when we are trying to cope with many stressors at the same time.

The decision to go to therapy could be following a life event, because something doesn’t feel right or because we feel stuck in life. Many years ago, I had considered going to therapy but it felt daunting. A friend asked “Why not go? After all, we visit the dentist to check and care for our teeth and opticians to check and care for our eyes; why not prioritise our minds – the most important part of us?”. And so my journey began.

Through gaining insights about myself, relationships with others and why patterns repeat themselves in life, I realised I wanted to offer this journey to others. That’s why I qualified and am currently furthering my expertise through an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is therapy?

Therapy is a journey where we explore you and what is going on for you. It can be really beneficial to work with an impartial and authentic person who listens and hears with empathy. Therapy can be useful for relieving distress, exploring life’s difficulties and helping with mental health problems. It can enable an understanding of what might cause these difficulties and how to manage and overcome them.

Will everything I say be kept confidential?

Everything that is said within the room is private - this is one of the main ways therapy differs from talking to a friend or relative and can be invaluable. There are some situations where confidentiality can be impacted and this will be explored further in our initial session together.

How do I start this process?

To book an initial 15 minute consultation meeting to review if I am a good fit for you, please do get in touch.

How many sessions will I need?

Therapy is a very personal process and the number of sessions can vary as we are all unique. It may be that a few sessions can help bring things into focus and a more open-ended approach may be needed to explore further together. If we agree to work together, an initial six sessions is recommended and we can review progress at that time and agree if we would like to continue longer term.

What happens in the first session?

Attending the first session of therapy can be nerve-wracking. This first session is slightly different to other sessions in that I will ask some structured questions to get a sense of your background – I would like to learn about you, your past and your present.

What happens in ongoing therapy sessions?

There is no typical session and you are welcome to bring anything you would like to talk over and explore. I see our time together like being in a car on a journey and you are in the driver’s seat and I am a passenger sitting alongside you.

How long will I have to wait for a session?

This depends on availability which can be discussed on contact. Depending on this, my aim is to offer a first consultation (a 15 minute free, no obligation online meeting) within 1-2 weeks. If we do agree to work together, we would agree sessions to take place at the same time every week.

How much will each session cost?

Each session will cost £60 and will last for 50 minutes.

Why do I need to attend weekly sessions?

The standard format of weekly sessions helps to build consistency, strengthen the therapeutic relationship and enable progress to where you want to get to.

What type of training and experience do you have?

I have been working with clients for 3 years and have the following qualifications:

  • 2020 Foundation Certificate in Counselling Skills and Practice, Metanoia Institute. Metanoia Institute provides high-quality and specialised programmes in Psychotherapy and Counselling.
  • 2023 Clinical Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling, Metanoia Institute.
  • 2024 TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems. Hart Learning and Development.

Sessions

I offer short and longer term individual therapy and counselling to adults depending on need which we can explore together and review as we go.

Sessions are held on a weekly basis and last 50 minutes.

They cost £60 per session payable by bank transfer before the session or in cash at the beginning of each session if preferred.

I provide a limited number of spaces for those on low-income or for students.

If you have any difficulties attending a session and need to cancel, a full charge will be payable if 48 hours’ notice is not given.

I offer sessions online and in person. For those joining me in person, I offer sessions from my practice based in Wokingham, Berkshire which is easily reachable from the surrounding areas of Bracknell, Finchampstead and Crowthorne.

Please note the therapy room is on the first floor of a Grade II listed building and there is no lift facility.

Online sessions are also available.
